Very rare factory 1970 Cougar Boss 302 of which only 469 were produced

Mechanicals:

Engine was rebuilt in 2014 by Blue Oval Performance, Denver, Co.

Bored .010 over.  Solid lifter Crane cam.  Not very aggressive but a little lumpy. Hardened valve seats.

Melling high volume oil pump.  Mcleod clutch. 

Original Holley 780 carb.  Carb was refurbished and re-plated by Joe Bunitec, (a renowned Ford carb rebuilder).

Factory manual choke.

Pertronix electronic ignition, (no points), under stock Distributor cap, Flamethrower coil.

Stock intake and exhaust manifolds.

2 ½ inch dual exhaust with crossover pipe, Flowmaster mufflers.

Manual steering converted to power using factory Mercury Cougar components.

Top loader close ratio four speed transmission with factory Hurst shifter.

Transmission deluxe kit: New locker rings, heavy duty bearings.

Roller bearing clutch pedal conversion. 

Factory 3.91 traction lock N-Case 9 inch differential, 31 spline axles, staggered shocks.

3rd Member: seals, gaskets and AMK nut and washer kit.

Shelby front suspension mods:  Lowered upper control arms.  Replaced springs and spring pads.

All front and rear suspension components replaced including leaf spring perch and insulators.

Replaced U Joints and transmission mount.

New Brake lines. Axle bearings and seals replaced.

Speedometer gear reducer for accurate speedometer readings.

Car runs strong.

 

Interior:

Tilt steering column fully restored w/ new bearings and tilt blinker switch.

Replaced original sequential turn signal relay with new electronic brain box.

Restored heater box, new fan blower motor, heater core, reseal kit, NOS blower motor switch.

Correct Eliminator black camera case dash panels.

Quartz clock conversion kit.

8000 RPM tachometer.

New insulated carpet, insulated headliner, and sail panels.

Inner door skins insulated.

Door cards re-dyed to correct factory off white color.

 

Restoration work:

Repaint and black eliminator stripe was already done when previous owner bought the car, sometime in the 1990’s.

Lower quarter panels had already been replaced before paint job.

Restoration Work:

Pulled entire front end and replaced aprons and core support.

Strip and paint entire front end and engine bay.

Replaced and repainted sub frame rails.
